Summary/Objective: Effectively Set-Up & Operate CNC machines such as 3 & 4-Axis CNC Mills & Turning Centers, while safely following quality requirement and production standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform Set Ups and operation of machines such as 3 & 4-Axis CNC Mills & Turning Centers.
    • Adhere to allocated run rate and notify supervisor if unable to meet requirements
  • Experience with tight tolerance aerospace / defense and semi-conductor machining with the ability to hold tolerances of +/- .0002”
  • Must be able to maintain a 90% efficiency rate during set-up/operation, and scrap rate of less than 1%
  • Read and follow job router, set-up sheet and work instructions and provide feedback to improve process
  • Maintain positive attitude even during stressful situations
  • Measure and document as required inspection data to assure part compliance, utilizing mechanical methods, manual CMM.
  • Read and interpret blueprint dimensions, symbols, and notes
  • Organize, clean, and maintain work area
  • Communicate with Department Lead on issues, needs, and improvements
  • Identify issues, and problem solve in a productive timeframe, and report to Department Lead
  • Ability to work required schedule

Competencies:

  • 5+ or more years setting up and operating machines such as CNC 3 & 4-Axis Mills & Turning Centers
  • Attention to detail
  • Solid working knowledge of machine and controller functions
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and applications
  • Sound mechanical skills
  • Basic shop mathematical and geometrical knowledge
  • Good communicator, ability to listen, ask questions, and provide solutions
  • Ability to work extra hours when needed
  • Self-Motivated
  • Positive attitude
  • Strong Work Ethic
  • Familiarity with AS9100 Standards

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required stand for long periods of time, walk and reach. The ability to lift products and supplies, up to 40 pounds. May be subject to cutting fluids, lubricants, metal chips and moderate noises.

Education and/or Experience:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Requires great attention to detail and the ability to read drawings and specifications
• Previous experience machining or programming required

Language Skills:
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability:
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
